TRAINING
Our training has a unique military theme and includes activities that are not available to other youth organisations, involving a mix of classroom lessons and practical training in the field.
The training supports personal development and fosters a spirit of adventure. It aims to develop qualities and skills that are essential to good citizens and leaders, and provides challenging and disciplined activities that are useful in service or civilian life.
We run a 4-year training programme. Basic skills are taught in the first year and these are developed over the following years. Once the 4-year training programme has been completed, some Cadets stay on in a senior leadership role and even to become Officers.
DRILL
The aim of drill is to develop a cadet who is proud, alert, obedient, self-disciplined and to provide the basis of teamwork. We parade every Wednesday during the school term and partake in drill nightly. In April each year, you will get to participate in local ANZAC day services. There are also opportunities to compete in drill competitions!
SHOOTING & MARKSMANSHIP
We offer firearms safety and marksmanship training We use .22 rifles on 25 metre ranges. We hold regular range days where cadets can earn shooting badges, and we compete against other units in regional, national and even international shooting competitions. Cadets complete thorough training before they fire their first round. Senior cadets have the opportunity to qualify as Shooting Coaches, allowing them to help run shooting activities
